Enrolling with the Literacy Council

ABE (American basic English)
One-on-one tutoring enrollment is available at the Will Rogers Library on Tuesdays or Thursdays between 9.30am and 4.30pm, or by calling 918-277-4331 to make an appointment.
Learners who wish to improve low level reading, writing, and math skills are tutored one–on-one.

ELL (English Language Learners)
One on one tutoring enrollment and class enrollment is available at the Will Rogers Library on Tuesdays or Thursdays between 9.30am and 4.30pm, or by calling 918-277-4331 to make an appointment.

Tutor Training – RCLC needs new tutors now!

The Council’s two-day training class for new tutors is scheduled for two consecutive Saturdays at the Claremore Community Center and the Will Rogers Library:

February 25 – Community Center, 8:00am until 4:00pm, lunch will be provided

March 4 – Will Rogers Library, 10:00am until 4:00pm, lunch on your own

To reserve a seat in the class, email the Executive Director, Edel Godwin, at director@rocoread or call at 918-277-4331. A $35 deposit is required when you enroll. Your deposit will be refunded when you complete the course.

Health Literacy Book Available

Simple Health, the Council’s health literacy book for low-level and non-readers is available for download on this site. The books are in English and Spanish. Funding was provided by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, the Library Services and Technology Act, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Go to the Health Literacy section on the Web Resources Page for the links. The English version is available as a .pdf and a MS Word document.

Citizenship Study Materials

Citizenship study materials are available at the Literacy Office. Tutoring is available to help prepare for the Citizenship test. Call 918-277-4331

Rosetta Stone English Language Learning Software

The English version of Rosetta Stone is installed on reserved desktop computers in the Will Rogers Library in Claremore. Students can study and practice at their own pace. Hardcopies of the individual lessons are available. Contact the Literacy Office to use this software.
